The Alexis Mabille Fall 2015 Couture collection is both stunning and sentimental. Instead of focusing the creation of garments around a theme, Mabille created 15 gowns from and for some of his glamorous client muses – Dita Von Teese, Bérénice Bejo, Leslie Caron, Audrey Marnay, and Mounia Orosemane, each celebrated as inspirations to haute couture.
He then commissioned photographer Matthew Brookes to take portrait photos in the style of John Singer Sargent. What was most striking was Mabille‘s celebration of real beauty as it stands in an age of starvation beauty, airbrushing, nipping, tucking and retouching. “We didn’t do much retouching on the women. We wanted them to look their age and look their character and not make them look plastic.” The result is lavish, artistic, and personal.
