Simone Rocha created her S/S16 RTW collection around the concept of incongruity between sweet innocence and sultry perversion. Inspired by photographer Nobuyoshi Araki, whose works center around bondage in Japan, Rocha focused on straps, bodices, knots and braids. This sounds like it would go in a dark Versace vixen direction, but she contrasted the seedy concept with pretty, delicate, and decidedly demure frocks with bubble sleeves, pastel pinks, black and white, and full, flowy skirts. Japanese influences were discrete, but noticed in an obi-style embellishment, jumpers with wrapped necklines, and bamboo prints.
