John Galliano’s S/S16 RTW collection for Maison Margiela shown at Paris Fashion Week was described as “lo-fi, sci-fi”. It was quite the artistic spectacle, with giant (sometimes green) beehive hair styles, silver petal painted eyes, and a modern, sometimes androgynous David Bowie-esque twist on 1950’s silhouettes. These included bubble sleeved clutch coats, a sweater dress, a neon green tailored pant suit, a water effect skirt, and quite a few midis and pencil skirts with Japanese obi inspired stylings. The tata-binding rope belts were a little befuddling, but it was quite an intriguing collection.Maison Margiela - Photo by Kim Weston Arnold - Indigital Images
