Gigi Hadid is one of THE style girls to watch right now. If it’s an upcoming trend, you bet she’ll be one of the people spotted wearing it first. Her style is usually on point – fresh, forward, and always cool. She usually slays. But…not with this look. Not completely.

The other day she wore a very hot-cold, love-hate outfit, and I’ve got to say, I’m really surprised.

The Look ~ Trench: Plein Sud // Bag: Tom Ford (here and here) // Shoes: Manolo Blahnik // Sunglasses: Krewe

Oh Yes: the crop top hoodie, the denim bag, the blue mirror sunglasses, and the black leather-trimmed trench.

Oh No: The 1980’s mom jeans in the light blue wash with a built-in FUPA.

Gi – girl. I am all about the high waist. It can be really sexy if the right cut, material, and edit is used…but this? No. Just no. This one didn’t work, and I’m having flashbacks to the worst fashion era in the history of mankind. Take them off, and never let those monstrosities see the light of day again. I’m saying this for your own good.

  1. I have seen outfits where jeans like that actually worked. But I completely agree, this just does not make sense because the rest of the outfit is so futuristic. That jacket reminds me of The Matrix…did anyone wear light wash denim in The Matrix? I am seeing dark silver skinny jeans with a hint of sheen, maybe low rise so the cropped top can actually look sexy.

    • You know, I can totally see The Matrix now that you say that! And you’re right, I’ve seen the “mom cut” high-waist work really well in other cases. For this one, the wash is off – you’re absolutely right, and it’s the extra gap intended for belly bulge that just looks so unflattering, especially on a model-thin girl like Gigi.
