Actress Reese Witherspoon was shot by David Bellemere for the June 8th cover of The Edit from Net-a-Porter. The ‘Big Little Lies’ star wore a blue and white gingham print dress from her label, Draper James that kind of reminds me just a bit of her role in Pleasantville. But totally wearable.

In her interview, Reese opened up about her role as Elle Woods in the 2001 film Legally Blonde. and creating a character with depth, strength, and a bit more purpose than love. “I remember doing Legally Blonde and thinking, this is my first film that isn’t about a romantic entanglement; it’s about a woman finding her own destiny. There certainly were romantic aspects to it, but it wasn’t the driving part of her story.”

She also delved a bit into why she loves being a part of what already has what seems to be a cult-following – the HBO drama ‘Big Little Lies’. “What was interesting about that show was [the audience] skewed 50/50 male and female, because it was an exploration of grown-ups in romantic relationships where the curtains were pulled back on things you don’t even tell your friends,” says the actress. “There’s a deep need to see women in a more complex way; I’m tired of seeing them as the wives and mothers and girlfriends.” Yes, yes, YES! We absolutely need more of this.

Along with her own label, she wore designer looks from Prada, Miu Miu, and Dolce & Gabbana for the shoot…and of course looked fabulous in every shot. The vintage vibe works for her, and instead of trying to reinvent her, The Edit went with the grain.
