Anthony Vaccarello of Saint Laurent is bringing sexy back with a capital ‘S’. For the fashion house’s Spring 2018 collection, it was leggy, boot stomping looks that walked in an open-air show with the Eiffel Tower sparkling in the background. Beautiful night in Paris with Saint Laurent show runway under the big twinkling romantic monument? This is what rom-coms are made of.
For this season, Vaccarello wanted to tell the story of Saint Laurent and Paris. The looks were confident and sexy to say the least, with breezy, billowing tops over high as the sky shorts and skirts as well as bra tops. There were white, gold, and antique finish laces in laser cuts that had a well-traveled vibe – some Eastern European, a few Moroccan, a few French and English, all paired with sexy meets outdoor adventurist shorts with *trend alert* rip cord ties to cinch up the length to sexier heights. This is the kind of girl that wears heels and makeup, but acts far from a princess.
And the glam was there too! Aahhh, the pretties. If Saint Laurent has become known recently for doing one thing well, it’s how to make a girl catch your eye from a mile away. Seriously, those sparkle boots.
And here, we saw signature plunge dresses with squared off shoulders in metallic shimmery finishes, but a few surprises too like evening looks in uuuuber short mini dresses with sparkling hot pants, bulbous, bouncy, fluffy bodices and skirts, as well as a whole lotta feathers. And it wouldn’t be YSL without the leather.
Boots and sandals had feathers as well this time, and they were quite the statement pieces. It’s obvious that in Saint Laurent, it’s all about the energy and movement. Their looks are not meant to sit still.
