Luxe Look for Less: Rosie HW’s off-the-shoulder blazer

Showing some shoulder is one of the best ways to throw some flirtation into your wardrobe and still keeping it classy. The cold shoulder and off-the-shoulder have been on trend for several seasons now, and the designers and celebs are not ready to let it go. And really, I’m not either. I really feel just a little more fabulous with a little shoulder action going on.

The other day, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley attended the Business of Fashion Summit wearing an off-the-shoulder cut blazer. Yes, this is a thing, and I love it. Ok, so maybe you can’t just rock this in the uber-conservative professional world. I doubt anyone would be rolling up in a courtroom to defend a client in one of these. But for so many other situations, especially an event like this summit, this outfit is going to solicit double takes and compliments. Hopefully more than just under the breath.

So let’s look at Rosie’s pieces, and then see how we can get the look for much cheaper.

The key here is to find pants that are slightly slim cut (not skinny!), and cropped at the ankle. You can go with a solid shoe here, but the ankle strap sandal really does work best, and always in white or nude. The slim pants really highlight the star of this outfit – the shoulder and bust, and bonus – accentuate your curves. Rosie has gone with a suit with a bit of sheen from Gabriela Hearst, but you can also go with a more muted fabric – in black for ultra curvy – which will work just as well.

Now we get down to the absolute bargain shopping. The look may not be exact, but it follows the same concept, and you get it for a total steal compared to the thousands it would have cost to go with the exact look.

Unfortunately they don’t, but I think within the next season, we’re going to see the fast fashion market pick up on this. And then we’ll probably see loads of color options, which I’ll be posting!
