The model x designer collaboration is perhaps saturating the market, but the success of lines by Gigi Hadid and Tommy Hilfiger two years ago, Alessandra Ambrosio and Revolve in 2016 (enabling her to launch the line solo as well), and Karlie Kloss and Express in 2017 speaks volumes.

Models branding their seal of approval and having their own creative input often creates more covet-worthy clothes. Sometimes it’s the fantastic looks, and sometimes it’s just by the sheer fact that your favorite celeb model designed it (plus it’s in YOUR color), so you must have it.

The latest model to take on the designer collab task has gone big, and I mean BIG. If you thought Gigi working with Tommy Hilfiger was big, you need to check this out. Kaia Gerber opted for to head to the top floor.

KarlxKaia fashion collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld and Kaia Gerber for 2018

The man behind the sumptuous furs of Fendi (along with his partner Slyvia). The creative vision of Chanel’s haute-sophisticate looks. The brain behind the over-the-top runway sets for both. The creator of his own edgy namesake brand. On my fantasy list of designers I could ever work with (because I have one – you don’t?!), Karl Lagerfeld is definitely in the top two. Kaia went for the goldmine.

I have to admit their Instagram announcement is a little bit odd. They made Lagerfeld look a little like a wax figurine of himself. How do you even do that?

At 16, do you remember what your first job was/is? Mine was at Starbucks. Kaia at 16 is designing a capsule collection with Karl Lagerfeld. What are we doing with our lives?!

Kaia x Karl is a fun little capsule with a bit of leather, a wetsuit inspired look for the surfer girl in all of us, some major pink moments, sporty suiting pieces, as well as a host of accessories and bags. Yaaas, girl.

The collection is available here starting Aug 30.

Yep, it’s definitely a fresh collection with youth vibe written all over it! Although I’m sure some hip granny out there is going to be rocking it better than all the young girls! 😂

Yes! The athleisure trend can really stay as long as it wants to as far as I’m concerned. 😂

Seriously! I can’t imagine how the rest of her career is going to turn out with this kind of jumping off point at such a young age. The world is her oyster!

Oh that’s a shame. I have seen some designers go through ruts so I hear you. I guess I haven’t really been noticing that with Lagerfeld on the Fendi side. I will say, Chanel has often been a two-three note show for me.
