Alessandro Michele is certainly a heady artist in the design world, and his Spring 2017 collection for Gucci was a wacky parade of 20th century (mostly 70’s) meets best-of historical costume. Michele wanted the garments to talk about love and quirkiness.

{London Fashion Week Spring 17} David Koma

How do you take Imperial Russian court dress form the early 20th century and give them the David Koma modernist and sexy edge? On paper, it sounds…perplexing. But completely intriguing, because if anybody can take a concept that is romantic, embellished, and formal, yet make them sharply crisp and sexy at the same time, it’s Koma.

Is the seasonless business of fashion here to stay? We’re in this oddly confusing period where collections are being shown for seasons 6 months away, while other more progressive business-forward brands are selling them now. So the Spring 2017 trends are actually Fall 2016 trends…blended. With the see now, buy now model being announced  by the first major brand of Burberry, many other designers followed suit.

Attending the Ralph Lauren New York Fashion Week runway, model Rosie Huntington-Whitely arrived looking gorgeous in this fantastic Fall trend. I love how she styled this crimson velvet plunge midi dress with black ankle boots and a dramatic (re: vampy) choker with diamond encrusted drop rubies.

Emmy’s Best and Worst Dressed 2016

The Emmy’s red carpet was impressive. Celebrities were stepping out in stunning looks, but some inventive ones too – a few didn’t play it safe this year, and it was an interesting and varied show of mostly winning looks. So picking the best dressed list this year was hard (unlike last year!)

And a few of these pieces, you can actually shop straight from the red carpet. (Links below each look!)

Once you’ve taken a look at my top picks, vote for your favorite!!

Sarah Hyland in Monique Lhuillier and Lorraine Schwartz jewels

I am just loving her in this gown. The double trains down the side with those modern floral pops that aren’t over the top…it’s just striking the perfect balance with me. She looks fantastic!

Emily Ratajkowski in Zac Posen

Just another example of the model posse showing the rest of us how it’s done. Va va vixen, Ms. Emily Ratajkowski! I love the way the sculptural top ruches down into a beautiful mermaid, creating a statuesque silhouette…and the color is perfect. This is my favorite for the night from Zac Posen.
