This group of interior designers has been at it for 30 years, and their skill, attention to detail and taste level shows through in their work. What I love most about this firm is their focus on comfort. I love beautiful, ornate furniture, but in my home, comfort is a must after a few lessons learned.

Common Living and Dining Spaces

While attending a study abroad program at the Glasgow School of Art during my college years, my architecture geek came out. I was elated to attend meetings in rooms filled with furniture created by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, a personal favorite architect and artist. These gorgeous chairs were pieces of history, and I was beside myself to be so close to them, and pretty much have free reign in a building filled with so many works of his art. The chance to actually touch and sit in these works gave me so much excitement. (Yes, judge away. I was excited to sit in a chair.) Yet that excitement quickly waned when 20 minutes into the first meeting, I realized that this was, by far, the most uncomfortable chair I’ve ever sat in. Beautiful or not, this chair turned into a torture apparatus after an hour.

Private Bed and Bath Spaces

Thus I learned my lesson, and from that point forward, I’ve attempted to strike a balance between style and comfort in every inch of my home. I want guests to love my decor, but just as important, I want them to relax, get comfortable, and really enjoy themselves. Harte Brownlee and Associates seems to strike this perfect balance with their interior design projects. Their designs are chic, luxurious, and well-edited. I also like the fact that they can work in variety of motifs and styles, to really cater to the individual needs and tastes of their clients.  Take a look at a few of my favorite works from their portfolio.
