Cavalli is for the adventurous, artsy, confident, and perhaps decadent woman. The resort 2017 collection dreamed up by Peter Dundas was intended for the rock goddess and summer traveler.

There’s no “beauty in the simplicity” concept here. The layers upon layers of visual pops create intense layers of color, patterns and textures juxtaposed to a collection that is simultaneously relaxed, bohemian, and haute luxury. From fringe to velvet patchwork, floral appliques to crochet work, swirling tie dye effects to animal print, sleek leather to fur, this collection literally jams it all in, but designs it well.

Cavalli‘s rock goddess is decidedly retro with androgynous slim fit suits, off-the-shoulder ruffle dresses, a tie dye swirl crochet halter dress, and quite a few boho Mexican floral maxis in breezy chiffon. Of course, there were a couple more of the famous Beyonce Lemonade dresses, one in mustard yellow, one in green.

Leave it to the Cavalli to master the ability to create a line that is both high energy and incredibly chic laid-back bohemian at the same time. Bravo, I want to steal your clothes.

  1. Compared to many, this collection speaks far more to the idea of resort or vacation or escape–some of the resort collections have been so structured they looked more like professional conference wear–this feels relaxing yet utterly glamorous.

    • You’re so right! The fashion house definitely didn’t follow the “London proper” trend the others were going for. I like the Cavalli approach to resort much better. And I totally hear you – what’s the point of doing a resort collection that you can’t wear to a resort?!
