After his epic Met Gala Cinderella princess light up gown worn by Claire Danes, Zac Posen is definitely on my radar. For his resort 2017 collection, it felt a little like a continuation of the conversation about the perfect event gown. So it wasn’t all about the cruise or vacation looks (unless you’re planning on attending galas on your vacay), but it was still pure perfection.
For the more laid back day looks, it was still a bit formal, with exact tailoring the focus. Taking inspiration from Vienna’s Wiener Werkstätte movement (think Art Deco/Art Nouveau textiles), there was a focus on graphic check patterns, and exact origami folds in mostly classic feminine silhouettes like the drop waist sheath and the v-neck shrug pencil dress. Love.
Zac Posen, you just keep Posening. He walks to the beat of his own drum, and he chose to do something entirely different than any other designer this season. No trend in his lookbook this season. Just fabulous garments.
