Elie Saab sent us on a flashback to the 70’s with his Spring 2017 RTW collection, reliving his childhood memories of his parents’ disco days. As if at any time the runway might turn into a dance party, the models strutted down the runway in loud, fun, colorful, and glitzy pieces obviously meant to make you smile.

The show started out with an array of stars in David Bowie to Pinball Wizard style fit and flare mini dresses with tailored jackets as well as a couple of separates including a metallic gold pantsuit.

Saab then introduced a 5-piece athleisure interlude of white and navy pieces – a cutout navy jumpsuit with star-shouldered bomber, white tennis dress, a white zip-front jumpsuit with cape sleeves running in grommets, a navy grommet drop-waist dress, and a navy officer style jacket in grommets with a matching pair of side slit shorts…because we absolutely needed those to come back. Sarcasm aside, Saab‘s version is actually pretty stellar. (Eh?! Get it?! So cheesy.)

Then came Saab‘s bread and butter. There was a deep midnight shimmering gown with a deep plunge that looked stunning cinched at the waist with a belt and almost met with a high slit, a few very disco looks, including a deep plunge star halter gown with a thin navy scarf, a billowing stark white crepe pantsuit, belted with a plunge neck, a rainbow striped halter gown, goddess gowns in peach and blue shimmer tones, a fabulous blue high-slit gown dripping in sequins…I love them all, as usual with Elie Saab. He knows the way to this girl’s heart. A flattering silhouette, some flowing movement, and quite a bit of sparkle.

The accessories are almost as exciting as the garments – these sunglasses with that metallic mirror effect are going to be covet pieces. And those star sandals as well – so adorable!

  1. I LOVE every single one of these pieces! And those accessories, I agree, they’re fabulous. I’d love to see stars become a trend next year. \nwww.morganetoile.com
