The Critics’ Choice Awards kicked off the 2017 awards season early this year, and it was quite the show. T.J. Miller hosted again this year, and the big winners were spoiler alert! La La Land, Game of Thrones, and Deadpool. We got to see what Hodor looks like IRL, we got to see the Stranger Things kid gang back together and all dressed up, and of course all the major fashion moments on the red carpet.

Here are the best dressed, worst dressed, and the major star looks in between:

Best Dressed

Amy Adams ~ Gown: Atelier Versace // Shoes: Jimmy Choo // Jewelry: Nirav Modi

Amy is stunning and statuesque in this Versace off-the-shoulder gown. Flawless from head to toe!

Viola Davis ~ Gown: Michael Kors

I think Viola has found her color – she should wear baby blue more often because she looks fantastic in it. The dress is simple, but it accentuates all the right areas, looks great against her skin, and has just a little shimmer too. And her styling is perfection.

Portia Doubleday ~ Gown: Jenny Packham

I wouldn’t think that I would like this print, but it really works on Portia – the color gradation really helps to highlight and shape her figure. Good styling, but I wish she had a better pop of color on her lips.

Nicole Kidman ~ Gown: Brandon Maxwell // Shoes: Gianvito Rossi // Watch: Omega // Jewelry: Fred Leighton

Yes! Nicole looks fantastic in this off-the-shoulder cutout gown. And wow that’s a high slit. I wish she would have popped one of her legs out to show off the sexiness of this gown, but it still definitely works well.

Naomie Harris ~ Dress: Stella McCartney // Shoes: Neil J. Rodgers // Clutch: Charlotte Olympia // Jewelry: Fred Leighton

Now this is a great example of a short dress with sheer overlay to gown length that actually works. It’s modern, I love the sharp angles at the bust, and Naomie looks fantastic. Look at he sculpted arms and shoulders! Dang, girl. You’ve been working out.

Mandy Moore ~ Gown: Solace London // Shoes: Brian Atwood

Finally! Mandy Moore made it on The Luxe Lookbook’s best dressed list! I knew you could do it, girl! This cobalt gown with a wide plunge neck is sleek and sexy.

Judith Light

I am LOVING this gown! The cut, the high neck, but especially the oil spill effect of the material. Want!

Janelle Monae ~ Gown: Nicci Hou

Wow. Just wow. Janelle Monae owned the red carpet last night. Rocking a check pattern is hard, but this gown is gorgeous, cut perfectly, and creates fantastic drama.

Hailee Steinfeld ~ Gown: Jason Wu // Shoes: Christian Louboutin // Jewelry: Forevermark

Hailee looked beautiful in what appears to be at first glance a simple strapless floral gown. But when you look closer, you find that the flowers are actually 3D, coming off of the fabric. She looks beautiful and the more I look at the dress, the more I love it.

Evan Rachel Wood ~ Suit: Altuzarra // Shoes: Christian Louboutin // Jewelry: Anita Ko

So many have tried the suit, so few have pulled it off. Count Evan Rachel Wood in the category of officially pulling off the perfectly tailored suit on the red carpet. And I love her hairstyle here.

Worst Dressed

Michelle Williams ~ Dress: Louis Vuitton

First, the dress isn’t really red carpet worthy. LV has been trying this a lot lately, and it hasn’t been working. Second, the dress and the styling both really age Michelle Williams here. Not a good combo!

Amanda Peet

Are we going to Sunday brunch? Or an awards show? I’m confused. And again, the color of the dress against Amanda’s skin isn’t doing her any favors here.

Ariel Winter ~ Gown: Uel Camilo

First, her hair style looks like Bam Bam from The Flintstones…and not in a good way. As for the dress, I’m a total fan of sexy skin cutout gowns, but this one was not working.

Jessica Biel ~ Gown: Elie Saab // Shoes: Stuart Weitzman // Jewelry: H. Stern

The gown here isn’t too bad, but her styling with it is. The gown has a robe-like appearance at passing glance. And her mussed up hair and lack of color in her makeup makes it look like she’s just rolled out of bed here. Not a good overall look.

Julie Bowen ~ Dress: Monique Lhuillier // Shoes: Jimmy Choo // Bag: Tyler Ellis // Earrings: Ippolita

Looks like we’ve got another Sunday bruncher!

Kaley Cuoco ~ Outfit: Noon by Noor // Shoes: Stuart Weitzman // Jewelry: Randall Scott

Pastel pink, ruffled droopy top over pants with two penguin wing trains on each side…just not loving this fashion moment.

Katy Mixon

It’s the color mix print that’s killing it for me.

Lily Collins ~ Gown: Elie Saab // Shoes: Giuseppe Zanotti

Going for the dark and emo goth look, the gown on it’s own has the tendency to go corpse bride fast. And instead of styling it with a popping red lip, sleeked back hair, and a modern clutch, she just went all in for the corpse bride thing. And it’s as sad as we imagined.

Lisa Bonet

So I’m usually not a fan of animal print. And animal print on a red carpet? It has to be pretty stellar to work. Not that I see Lisa Bonet as the type to worry before an award show about what she’ll be seen wearing anyway. But FTR, this look wasn’t a hit.

Maura Tierney

What is going on here? This is literally what I would wear if I worked in a cubicle.

Michelle Monaghan ~ Top and Pants: Monique Lhuillier

This look had the potential of working, but put together, the elements just didn’t work. At least Michelle had the tissues on the ready to dry her tears.

The We’ll Let You Off With A Warning Looks

Kate Beckinsale ~ Gown: Reem Acra // Shoes: Christian Louboutin // Jewelry: Mimi So

This one was so close to being a good look. But those sleeves! They were awful in the 80’s and we don’t want to see them back again. Take note Reem Acra! You ruined a potentially gorgeous dress.

Bella Thorne ~ Gown: Steven Khalil // Shoes: Stuart Weitzman

I keep going back and forth on this look. It’s sexy, it’s fun, but while some people were dressed too far down, Bella was dressed too far in the sex kitten direction. There are some award shows where this would work and blend…but the CCA’s made Bella look like she was dressed for a different event entirely. And the way it highlights her belly is just…awkward.

Cynthia Nixon ~ Jewelry: Fred Leighton

I want to like this gown, and it’s not exactly bad…but it does scream Valentine’s Day. And The extra swaths of fabric just look a little odd.

Gillian Jacobs ~ Dress: Delpozo // Shoes: Sophia Webster

Love the dress, but again, probably not CCA red carpet material. And if she’s going to wear something short, she needs to learn how to pose her legs so she doesn’t look completely awkward. Poor girl!

Honorable Mentions

Kerry Washington ~ Dress: Elie Saab // Shoes: SJP Collection // Jewelry: Colette and Anne Sisteron, and H. Stern

Sarah Hyland ~ Dress: Vera Wang // Shoes: Giuseppe Zanotti // Jewelry: Lorraine Schwartz and Ofira
