Givenchy is officially Tisci-less, but surprisingly, the first collection after his departure was dedicated to him, and was far from a disappointment. After Riccardo Tisci’s tenure at the fashion house, instead of following it up with a runway collection almost destined for poor ratings with the critics (based on the law of averages with other fashion house interim collection attempts) the interim team decided to put out a capsule collection, sticking closely to the Givenchy codes, but a yearbook review of the best of Tisci’s tenure. Um, yes please.

And can I just make a side note here? Creative directors in the fashion industry are traded faster than players in the NFL.  What’s that about? And why aren’t there reality tv shows based on what happens behind the scenes in these companies….I want the deets!

Anyways, I digress. Back to the major wow moment at Givenchy. It was a small 27-piece capsule all in red from head to toe, and it read like the couture version of a best-of mix tape. Yes, I said mixed tape. I mean, if we’re going to reminisce, we might as well own the moment, right? There was a powerful knee length pencil dress, with petal folds draping diagonally down the silhouette. She is not a delicate flower. A ruffle cuffed Bambi sweatshirt is belted by a bungee cord over a grommet skirt. A Wonder Woman-esque sheer top over a bunny ear plunge top with skinny pants and neoprene OTK boots. Yaaaasssss. There were a couple of naked tulle maxis, and a belted slip dress with embroidered lace and beading over the epic knee high boots with heel-covered sheaths. Seriously. yes.

It’s all just covet-worthy good. A witty best-of review in a farewell tour of Riccardo Tisci in what will surely become collectible items. Even better, they’re not just available in red, but black and nude as well. Who knows what’s in store for us next from Givenchy, but the wrap up of the Tisci era was everything we needed.
