The Venice Film Fest kicked off last Wednesday, and it’s chock full of some of our famous A-listers, including Kristen Wiig, George Clooney, Octavia Spencer, Jennifer Lawrence, Annette Bening, Matt Damon, Kate Bosworth, Julianne Moore, model Izabel Goulart, and the list goes on.

Studios are looking to Venice to premiere films like Downsizing, in which Matt Damon plays a man who agrees to have himself shrunk down in order to live luxuriously in a government resort, or like Suburbicon, directed by George Clooney, a tale of very flawed people making very bad decisions starring Julianne Moore and again, Matt Damon – all hopeful to bolster ticket box sales and future awards.

And this year, there’s even a section for virtual reality viewing – the first ever competition for VR work at a major film fest. Ground breaking! But this is not what we’re here to discuss.

The red carpet never disappoints in Venice, where the ever present jetset mentality meets grandeur….but photo calls are still pretty laid back. So let’s take a look at this year’s best red carpet looks.

Luciana Barroso ~ Gown: Atelier Versace with Matt Damon in Versace

I am loving this gown on Luciana. It’s this perfect mix between wonder woman and Grecian goddess – fierce yet ethereal. The sheer fabric has a fantastic textured element with the basket weave, and embellishment along the bodice under the bust line is well-edited. Anything more, and it would be too much. Just a fantastic look.

Bianca Balti ~ Dress: OVS

This is pretty much a fantastic Venice Film Fest look, because it could go either way – for the photo call or the red carpet depending on how dressed down or up you’d want to go. I’ve seen a wide variety on these red carpets. And I love a good crisp minimalist look – the peasant sleeves, ghee belt, flowing train and plunge neck are all great elements that come together well. The lace up sandals add the perfect complement. A+

Kate Bosworth ~ Dress: Miu Miu

Kate Bosworth seems to have an affinity toward the vintage Art Deco style, and it wears well on her. This time, she opted for a knee-length Miu Miu jewel encrusted scoop neck with feather embellished cap sleeve dress. She went with a simple top knot, drop earrings, and went for a soft blush palette, which looked fabulous. I wasn’t loving the black pumps at first, until I got to the back chunky jeweled heels. Oh, yeah.
