Christian Siriano‘s mantra seemed to be “more is better” for his Fall 2018 RTW collection, celebrating his 10th anniversary in runway fashion. He created over 70 looks to mark the occasion – many in bold hues of saturated, mixed reds and pinks as well as a few liquid metallics.
The designer continued his inclusive approach, designing for all body types with curves welcome, with Ashley Graham opening the show in a voluptuous long faux fur red coat cinched at the waist over thigh-high red plastic with black striping. Daaaang, girl. Siriano is definitely going for the sex appeal.
The plastic motif continued with a long black maxi skirt with white stitching that had a bit of a grunge feel, elevated by a red faux fur cross body wrap. The same material and stitching was used on a baby doll dress with wide flounce sleeves, and the 90’s vibe was definitely here. I’m kind of in love with this one. And those vintage cat eye sunglasses. Yes!
A semi-sheer nude bodysuit covered in handwritten script barely covered by a cross body faux fur wrap is worn by none other than Selma Blair. And Danielle Brooks from Orange is the New Black rocked a teal silk and chiffon side-slit, caped gown.
Men’s looks also make their way into the collection via shorts, metallic tanks, and metallic brocade suiting. Perhaps a bit disjointed from the rest of the vibe of the collection, but really, there didn’t seem to be one theme throughout anyways.
Delicate silver sequinned scroll coils were crafted into entire dresses, coats, and necklines, creating an almost body armor appearance. These made way for the mega moment of crystal “armor” outlined gowns in black and red. Divine.
There was certainly a lot to this collection. Too much? Probably. But Siriano was excited for his 10th, so he had to go big, go more. And his outlook has always been, design to include for everyone. Certainly there will be a person out there for every one of these looks.
