The Kardashian-Jenner Shutdown
April 2018 is apparently and unofficially the Kardashian-Jenner celebration month. With Kim Kardashian on the cover of Elle, and Kendall Jenner gracing the cover of Vogue, the family clan has a pretty decent spread of their faces on magazine stands….for those old schoolers still imbibing in the old school joy of flipping through pages, earmarking favorites, and sampling those perfume inserts. Guilty.

Kendall Took the Prize
And while Kim’s shoot was gorgeous and the photography stellar, it was Kendall and Vogue who took the gold in style, creativity, and dramatic presentation. I mean, when you have a celebrity model who’s walked and looks for the most elite fashion houses like Chanel, Fendi, Balmain, and Givenchy, you have to go big for their cover shoot.

Over the Top
Vogue did just that. Styled by Tonne Goodman and shot by Mert & Marcus, the cover features a cool-as-a-cucumber Kendall hanging out with a cockatoo on her finger.

Opening Up
In the interview, Kendall talks about her controversial 2017 Pepsi commercial, her love life, and why she’s reining it in from her dizzying career. The shoot ranges dynamically from uber-modern neon ala Fifth Element opera singer to the majorly classic editorial, romantic, dramatic florals.
And I think for the most part this is an accurate representation of Kendall herself. While sister Kim has a very specific style she almost never strays from, Kendall can be dropped into a plethora of situations and fit in well. From the flirty and fun Italian romance of Dolce & Gabbana to stark minimalism and athleisure of millenialism – she meshes with it all. That comes from her broad-reaching experience as an elite model.

Whoa There – Photoshop Much?
But wait, did the photographers edit her intentionally to make a statement here or was it just a very odd coincidence? In this particular photo, Kendall looks crazy over-photoshopped. It doesn’t even come close to looking like her, but an overly-CGI’d anime representation of her in a video game. If I saw this, I never would have guessed it was an actual live photo of her.
Is this a clap at her (and her sisters’) constant photo editing of themselves on social media? Or just an unfortunate coincidence? Because it really looks like a hidden little Easter egg here….
