Living Room Decor Trends to Follow in 2018

If you love to follow new design trends and stay in-the-know when it comes to living room décor, you have a lot to keep an eye on in 2018. Let’s see what’s new and what is coming back this year!

Handmade look

Instead of hiding them, display your living room’s little imperfections, and watch as your room livens up and becomes unique and personal. The handmade look can be very attractive, especially when it comes to fabrics and decoration. Think messy fringes and tassels on throws and decorative pillows, as well as intricate macramé on walls! This trend not only gives your space a romantic and casual handmade quality, but also provides you with cozy tactile experiences.

Beautiful floors

From hardwoods and parquets to brutalist concrete, floors in 2018 will not be neglected. But, concrete is definitely taking the spotlight today, especially in minimalist living rooms that follow simple, elegant yet sustainable aesthetics (concrete lasts practically forever and requires almost zero maintenance). Plus, it’s suitable for living rooms, hallways and kitchens! You can also invest in a quality floor paint as well as epoxy that will give your concrete floors a non-slip quality. There are also sealers that form an attractive AND resistant coating that will leave your floors looking beautiful for a long time!

Soft and delicious colors

Have you ever seen a color that just reminds you of delicious candy or cake? Well, these “ice cream” colors will be huge in 2018, especially in the spring and summer. However, choosing your favorite wall paint can be just as hard as choosing an ice cream flavor. But why settle for only one, when you can get a whole palette of ice cream colors! These soft, pastel hues will make your living room cozy, chic and ready for the summer! Some of our favorite picks are Ice Cream Pastels by Pantone, but you can add your own “flavor” anytime you want!

Relaxing indigo

A perfect counterpart to soft pastels is dark, moody and elegant indigo—another huge trend this year. This color will definitely improve relaxation and make you feel like you’re having your private cocoon of a living room. Feel free to paint an entire room if you’re bold, but introducing only a few indigo accessories is also a great idea that will not overwhelm you. Think indigo art, vases or decorative pillows!

Intricate geometry

Although geometric patterns aren’t exactly a new trend, they are still going very strong, so it’s practically impossible to skip them. Last year they were mostly present on rugs, pillows and window treatments, but this year they are overtaking walls and even tiles! Make a beautiful tiled wall piece using geometric shapes or employ some painter’s tape to create an intricate accent wall.

Dark wood

Gone are the days of blond, Scandinavian-style woods!  2018 is stepping onto the dark side with rich wood tones that remind us of retro glamour and some serious elegance. Think dark, lacquered dressers, heavy vanities and intricate wooden coffee tables! They look the best when accompanied with a few metallic accents. Metal contrasts with dark wood beautifully, giving it an even richer look!

Did these new decor trends leave you itching to remodel your living room? If yes, don’t hesitate to try them out and give your space a chic, trendy and elegant vibe! See you next year with some new and fresh trends!
