Fresh as a Day-sy
Wes Gordon has been at the helm of the Carolina Herrera fashion house for a few seasons now, and he seems to be edging deeper and deeper into a fresh modern vibe. His focus was more toward daywear this season, and we got a good dose of smartly tailored suiting.
Of course, he’s trying to keep the house codes intact. The white shirting is still here along with the classic feminine silhouettes that peek out by way of a puff statement sleeve pink gown, or a housecoat dress.
Yet for the most part, the designer is clearly making a break for it. There is a refreshingly modernist minimalism to his perspective that brings the fashion house to the current era. And if we’re honest with ourselves, that needed to happen.
Highlights were the sporty watermelon knit dress reminiscent of Prada’s resort 2018 athleisure collection, the exuberant feather printed wide-leg jumpsuit, and the tailored sapphire tuxedo dress with pink lining.
