AT HOME SHOPPING: CURATED STYLE SERVICES
What can be better than lounging in bed with your comfy robe on, drinking coffee, and going clothes shopping? But I’m not talking just perusing our fashion websites online, but having curated pieces by your own stylist sent to you in your own personal style box. Um, yes please?
STITCH FIX
I’ve been receiving an online styling service delivery from Stitch Fix, and I’m doing an unboxing to show you guys what I typically get, and how fantastic shopping in bed can be with a curated styling shopping experience. Yaaasss.
MY STITCH FIX EXPERIENCE!
MY KEEPERS
Here’s what worked for me, and what I bought. Like you saw in the video, I loved the double opening in the back of the sweater, and the striped button-down will go great with a pair of denim and heels, summer whites, as well as work clothes. I sent the other pieces back. No surprise, the jeans did not fit 100% perfectly on this short curvy girl. (Ya don’t say it’s hard to denim shop for those of us in this category? Well, I’m sure it’s hard to jean shop for everyone, really.) And I love, love, LOVED the parka, but at the end of the day, what killed it for me? Pockets. No side pockets for my hands. That’s a normal posture position for me and a natural habit, so if I don’t have them, I tend to be that awkward “I don’t know what to do with my hands” kinda girl!
HOW IT WORKS
Step 1. Complete a Style Profile
One of my favorite parts of the Stitch Fix process is the style profile that you complete. This is kind of a Pinterest style quiz that you get to take so that your future stylist gets an idea of how you want to dress and what you’re drawn to. The great part is, this isn’t a binary system, so if you have a bit of diversity in how you dress, they’ll be able to catch it. Plus, if you find yourself wanting to expand your wardrobe into new looks, this is a great way to find the inspo and identify where you’d like to venture.
Prices
You will also be able to set your preferred budget and what you’re typically comfortable paying for certain pieces of clothing. This online style service caters to low, medium and high end clients, so the cost of items has a wide range – anywhere between $20 – $600. If you’re looking for particular higher end brands, they carry Trina Turk, Alice and Olivia, Theory, Free People, Kate Spade, Paige, Sam Edelman, Rebecca Minkoff, Helmut Lang, and more.
Step 2: Set the frequency and date of delivery
There is so much flexibility for how often you get your fixes. You can get fixes once a month (or sooner!), every other month, or quarterly. At the time your stylist selects your items, you’ll be charged a $20 styling fee. That $20 will be applied as a credit toward anything you keep from your shipment.
Step 3: Get your fix and try it on!
For me, this part is always like Christmas. The box comes in, and I never know what I’m going to be getting from Megan, my styling sista from another mista. When I open it up to find all the goodies inside, I’m usually super excited to put every piece on to see how it looks. And every fix got better as Megan started to more comprehensively understand my style – my likes, dislikes, the cuts that work for me, the cuts that don’t.
Just like any successful relationship, it takes time to really build a solid foundation. And if I would have based that success on the first two fixes, I would have left and would have lost out on this pretty fantastic thing we’ve got going know. She gets me. She really gets me. My style, that is. So if at first you’re saying “Hmmm, I don’t know about this”, stick it out like I did. Give it at least 4-5 fixes, and give really detailed feedback so your stylist has a good chance to make you happy. You two deserve a shot at a successful relationship, afterall. 😂😂
What’s Included
Tops, Bottoms, Jackets/Coats, Dresses, Shoes, Accessories – available in women’s, men’s, children’s, petite, and maternity sizes
Step 4: Checkout
Buy it or Return it, then leave feedback! Stitch Fix makes checking out and feedback a breeze. You just sign into your account, and they have each item on the ready for you to identify whether you want to keep it, exchange it for a different size or return it as well as feedback for that item on the style, cut, fit, and price. You can also leave a written comment for each (do this! The more specific the better!). What to do with the clothes you didn’t buy? They included a return back in your box, so you just throw them in the bag, toss it in your outgoing mail, and fuhgeddaboudit.

Great post! It\’s incredible how many different ways there are to shop now. My favorite thing is the parka (pink + fur = 😍), but they really should have just added pockets to it 😂
